Church of Sant’Ambrogio

One of the little historical and artistic gems of the city, the church of Sant’Ambrogio contains some frescoes of considerable merit. Historical research commissioned by the Parish Priest of Sant’Ambrogio confirms that these can be attributed to Luini, Borgognone, Morazzone and an artist from the Bramante school (as mentioned, in any case, in numerous documents found in the Diocesan Archives). Inside the church there is also an old organ made by the master craftsman Giuseppe Bernasconi, which was erected in the church of Sant’Ambrogio in 1874. This artist from Varese, the founder of a dynasty of organmakers, also made the majestic organ in the church of San Giovanni in Laterano in Rome.
