Boat bridge

This bridge is one of the last and extremely rare examples in Italy of a barge bridge. Built as a provisional solution at the end of the 19th century it somehow managed to survive over the years and even weathered two world wars. The boats were originally made of wood until they were replaced by the current cement barges. This kind of bridge follows changes in water level and when the river rises the boats float.
