Situated on the left bank of the Naviglio Grande, since 1970 it has been property of the Town Hall. It comprises an outer building from the 16th century which was once the residence of the Piatti family. Inside there is a beautiful stone fireplaces decorated in high relief and the chimneybreast features the “Dama della Fenice”, the Lady of the Phoenix, the oldest fresco in the town which was revealed in the course of restoration work on the Palace begun in 1983 and finished in June 2003. In the courtyard there is an 18th century building with 19th century decorative frescoes with views of classical landscapes and plaster scrolling and swags. The rear of the palace opens onto a great park (9600 square metres) which has an entrance on Vicolo dello Sport and gives access to the Library. Built in the 17th century, the Italianate garden was converted into a 19th century Romantic garden. A pleasant public amenity in the shade of cedars, lime trees, hackberries, whitebeams, the park also has a children’s playground and is open to the public during the opening hours of the Day Centre for the Elderly which is located here.
