Sanctuary of the Beata Vergine Addolorata

Cern.1

There was already an oratory on the present site of the church in the 9th century as testified in a parchment in the archive of Monza Cathedral signed by Berengario I. In the 13th century and up until 1338 it was the parish church of the village. Recent restoration has brought to light traces of the original walls. The present appearance of the church is due to renovation work carried out in the 18th century. There is a wooden Crucifix from the 17th century, a stained glass window dated 1562 depicting the Pietà, probably made by the Bavarian school of glassworkers, which became part of the facade in 1934. In 1998 a new entrance door was made in bronze with the theme of Mary Mother of the Church and another altar was recently inaugurated. The Sanctuary has a large collection of votive offerings.
