The Silk Mill
At the request of the owner who also lived there, part of the Monastery of Sant’Ambrogio was turned into a textile mill and became one of the first factories of Cologno. About 100 workers, most of them women, processed the silkworm cocoons that were raised on the local farms. It was then turned into a textiles factory for producing ribbons and elastics and so continued up until the early 1960s. It has been completely renovated and transformed into residential and commercial units.
